“Scramble for Scholarships” is coming up on Monday, Sept. 10 at Forest Akers West, only four weeks away! The proceeds from the outing go to provide scholarships to East Lansing seniors to help in covering their first year college costs.
You can also help by becoming a sponsor. For $100 you (or your company) name will be listed as a hole sponsor in the event program and will be recognized on our web site and other sites.
Also, we need prizes. Perhaps you (or your company) have an item that would be suitable for a prize – it doesn’t have to be golf-related, just anything of reasonable, practical value.
Based on preliminary indications, we’re heading for our largest turnout in years, so be a part of this effort. Even the East Lansing Schools Superintendent is putting together a foursome!
You can find a signup sheet for the event here!

We were proud to receive a donation from members of East Lansing’s Police Athletic League at this week’s meeting. The Police Athletic League (PAL) is a recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily on athletics and recreational activities to tighten the bond between police officers and youth in the community.
Their donation of $1,500 will go toward our club’s Playground in the Park project; the East Lansing Rotary Club will be installing a new play structure at East Lansing’s Patriarche Park this fall.

For East Lansing Rotarians and friends – here are some details on our upcoming Golf Outing.
To refresh your memories, the outing is held in memory of Joe Gross, Past President and Past District Governor, for the purpose of raising funds to award college scholarships to deserving ELHS seniors.
Please mark your calendars for a 1:30 shotgun at Forest Akers West on Monday, September 10. The cost this year has been reduced from $150 to $100/person and includes golf, cart, special events, dinner and prizes.
Rotarians: because the outing is on a Monday, you are able to invite guests for our regularly scheduled lunch.
